Long Pham, a leader of the American Engineering Community
As a Vietnamese American, Long went out of his local community in Little Saigon to become a leader of the American engineering community in the USA before there is a Little Saigon. First, he went into nuclear engineering in 1979, a special field that few Vietnamese engineers want to be worked closely with a former USC professor. He developed his first nuclear invention in 1984 and was later elected by his peers to serve as Vice President of the American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the institute setting standards for engineering and nuclear safeties recognized worldwide for over 100 years, and still serves as an advisor. A PROVEN LEADER FOR
JOBS, ENERGY, AND ECONOMIC GROWTH
Long Pham, an Entrepreneur and a Nuclear Engineer
As a grateful Vietnamese American immigrant, I owe everything to the United States. This nation welcomed me, provided an education, and allowed me to become a leader in America’s engineering community since 1999. I am committed to repaying that debt by delivering real results for California families: more high-paying jobs, affordable energy, and economic strength.
In 2021, the U.S. nuclear industry chose me to help commission the country’s first two new $30 billion nuclear reactors. My team secured the operating license for America’s newest reactor on August 3, 2022. This breakthrough helped persuade the California Legislature to pass SB-846, extending Diablo Canyon Nuclear Facility operations beyond its 2025 closure, saving thousands of high-wage jobs and billions in state revenue for the next 20 years.
With my 4 years on the Orange County Board of Education, we managed to avoid layoff despite having 39000 staffs in the heavy budget cut of 2011.
As Vice President of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in 1999, I lobbied Congress successfully for the 2000 tax credit making higher education expenses deductible for every American family, easing the burden of college costs.
In 1997, Governor Pete Wilson appointed me to help repeal nearly 4,000 anti-business regulations, sparking a decade of robust economic growth and job creation in California.
As your Congressman, I will fight to expand nuclear power, responsible oil production, and reliable energy sources to lower costs, achieve energy independence, and attract businesses and good jobs to our state and nation. I will champion pro-growth policies that put American workers first.
I would be honored to earn your vote and support.
